MIPI FPGA IP
Purpose-built MIPI CSI-2 FPGA IP for sensor bring-up and production imaging. Collects pixel and frame data with rich metadata (line length, lanes, virtual channels, pixel type, ECC, optional CRC, clock-rate estimate). 1–8 lanes, any pixel format. Bus-analyzer mode for intermittent issues.
MIPI sensor implementations tend to be project-specific and are not always a good fit for a one-size-fits-all IP package.
Tecphos uses our own MIPI IP on multiple projects and multiple FPGA platforms. We can provide purpose-built MIPI IP for your design—matched to your sensor, lane count, clocking, and host pipeline.
Pixel and frame collection
In addition to collecting and organizing pixel and frame data from the MIPI bus, the IP provides several metadata functions that make bring-up and field debug much faster.
Metadata and diagnostics
- Reports line length in bytes
- Reports active lanes
- Reports active virtual channels
- Reports pixel type
- Reports ECC errors
- Can calculate CRCs when required
- Can estimate the clock rate of non-continuous clocks on the MIPI bus
That visibility is especially helpful for debugging sensor interface issues and for built-in self-test paths used by operating systems and production test.
Bus-analyzer mode
For trickier MIPI issues, we have MIPI IP that performs bus-analyzer-like functions—streaming packet header data out an alternate interface to locate intermittent problems that are hard to catch with status registers alone.
Capabilities
- 1–8 lanes
- Rate depends on FPGA SerDes / I/O capabilities
- Any pixel format
- Virtual channel compatible
Delivery model
Because MIPI sensor stacks vary widely (continuous vs non-continuous clock, lane mapping, virtual channels, embedded data, and host expectations), Tecphos typically configures and delivers MIPI IP for the project rather than forcing a single generic drop-in. That keeps the core solid while matching your sensor and platform.
